The Art of the Shoreline
Artist in Residence Series with Linda Soderquist
Art inspired by place, shaped by observation, and rooted in the natural beauty of Manasota Key.
The Art of the Shoreline is a new Artist-in-Residence program designed to celebrate creativity, environmental connection, and the quiet beauty of coastal life through immersive, hands-on workshops led by acclaimed Florida artist and conservationist Linda Soderquist.
Inspired by the meeting of shoreline, oak canopy, and coastal habitat of Manasota Key, each workshop invites guests to observe, create, and connect through artistic experiences rooted in place. Whether painting native plants, capturing coastal textures in watercolor, or exploring seasonal themes through mixed media, participants are encouraged to experience the shoreline in a new way.
More than art classes, these gatherings are designed to create space for curiosity,
conversation, and appreciation for the environment that surrounds us.
Designed for all experience levels, workshops include guided instruction, demonstrations, creative exploration, and time to gather and enjoy the setting together.
Guests leave not only with something they created, but with a deeper connection to the coast itself.
Space is intentionally limited to create a relaxed and personal experience.
Meet Linda Soderquist
Artist | Educator | Conservationist
Linda Soderquist’s work is shaped by decades of observing, protecting, and interpreting Florida’s natural environment.
After beginning her career in education and earning degrees in Fine Arts, Elementary Education, and Mathematics, Linda turned her focus to art and conservation following retirement. A Florida Master Naturalist, longtime sea turtle permit holder, shorebird monitor, educator, and award-winning watercolor artist, Linda brings a rare combination of artistic talent and environmental stewardship to her work.
Her paintings are deeply informed by years spent documenting Florida wildlife, studying coastal ecosystems, and mentoring future generations through conservation and environmental education.
Through her Artist-in-Residence partnership with Manasota Beach Club, Linda invites guests to slow down, observe more closely, and discover the stories hidden within the natural world.
